2022 Banjo

See photos and videos below.

A long drought for festivals due to Covid, and finally in 2022 we had a spectacular week. Robbie from New Zealand, Mikey from Alaska, and Lauren from Florida all converged (we all met at Kaufmann Kamp years ago, all banjo players).

First stop was the Earl Scruggs Center, a museum dedicated to Earl, with a wonderful collection of his instruments and videos. Second stop  was the very first "Bring the Music Home" Earl Scruggs Festival at the spectacular Tryon Equestrian Center. We rented a fantastic three bedroom cabin on site.

On the way back from that went to the Happy Valley Music Festival in Lenoir, festival closed with the Kruger Brothers! The next day drove to our friend Spencer's cabin in Deep Gap NC. for an afternoon of jamming with Michael McCormick (band Smooth Bourbon), an overnight (Spencer's wife made Moravian Chicken pie)...

Mikey left the next morning with her brother (we were happy to meet him!), Lauren on Wednesday. Robbie stayed on, we had a great long lesson with my instructor, Donnie Little.

Then the next Saturday ANOTHER small festival with the Krugers again! Pouring rain but we were under a tent, so it was fine. Mikey brought moose jerky (seriously), Robbie brought Whittaker NZ chocolate, Lauren brought me a great sign "With cats and wine, everything's fine"!
